Currently, to make an application for a connection to the NTS, the National Grid Application to Offer (A2O) process must be followed and the current application and build process can take up to 3 years.
The proposed new connections process which Project CLoCC will deliver at the end of October 2018 will halve the connection costs and bring the timelines to under a year.
In addition, connection application fees will be reduced for standard design gas customers. The fee for application to offer (A20), where customers choose a standard connection design from the six options Project CLoCC has developed, will be reduced by up to 80%. The fee reduction is possible due to the online gas customer connections portal and standardised connection designs.
These changes are under development and will require amendments to National Grid’s statement for connection charges.
